Description
Random Hexamer Primer is a highly purified mixture of single-stranded random hexanucleotides designed for efficient priming of reverse transcription and DNA labeling applications. The primer mixture contains all theoretically possible hexamer sequences, enabling random annealing across RNA and DNA templates for comprehensive first-strand cDNA synthesis.
Due to their random binding characteristics, Random Hexamer Primers provide uniform coverage across the entire length of RNA transcripts, making them particularly suitable for reverse transcription of partially degraded RNA, non-polyadenylated RNA, and complex RNA populations. This broad priming capability supports the generation of representative cDNA libraries for downstream molecular biology applications.
The primers are HPLC purified and supplied in lyophilized form to ensure high purity, long-term stability, and reproducible performance. After reconstitution, the primers are ready for use in reverse transcription workflows, cDNA synthesis, and nucleic acid labeling protocols.
In addition to first-strand cDNA synthesis, Random Hexamer Primers are widely used for the preparation of labeled DNA probes for hybridization-based techniques, including fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), Northern blotting, Southern blotting, and other nucleic acid detection methods.
For enhanced sensitivity and transcript coverage during reverse transcription, a combination of Random Hexamer Primer and Oligo(dT) Primer is recommended. This approach combines efficient priming of polyadenylated transcripts with comprehensive coverage of RNA molecules across their entire length.
