Description
AntiTaq Antibody is a highly purified monoclonal mouse IgG antibody developed for HotStart PCR applications. The antibody specifically binds to Taq DNA polymerases and blocks enzyme activity at ambient temperatures, preventing unwanted polymerase activity during reaction setup. Upon heating above 60 °C, the antibody is irreversibly denatured, fully restoring polymerase activity for efficient PCR amplification.
By inhibiting Taq polymerase during reaction preparation, AntiTaq Antibody improves PCR specificity, reduces non-specific amplification and primer-dimer formation, and can increase product yield. This enables convenient room-temperature assay setup without the need for ice or cooling blocks, making the antibody particularly suitable for PCR kit development, custom HotStart enzyme formulations, molecular diagnostics, and assay optimization.
The monoclonal antibodies are produced from a hybridoma cell line and are supplied with high purity, free of aggregates and endotoxins, ensuring reliable and reproducible performance in demanding molecular biology applications.
Because the optimal antibody-to-polymerase ratio depends on the specific enzyme and assay conditions, the required amount of AntiTaq Antibody should be determined empirically during assay development.
AntiTaq Antibody is supplied at a concentration of 2 mg/ml and is also available as a glycerol-free variant upon request, making it suitable for lyophilized reagent formulations and diagnostic kit manufacturing.
