Description
Uracil-DNA Glycosylase (UDG) is a highly active recombinant enzyme for the prevention and control of PCR carry-over contamination. The enzyme specifically recognizes uracil-containing DNA and catalyzes the removal of uracil residues from single-stranded and double-stranded DNA, thereby eliminating contaminating PCR products generated with dUTP-containing reaction systems.
UDG is widely used in PCR and qPCR workflows employing dUTP/UNG contamination control strategies. By degrading carry-over amplicons before amplification, the enzyme significantly improves assay reliability and reduces the risk of false-positive results, making it particularly valuable for diagnostic development, pathogen detection, and high-throughput testing environments.
The enzyme is supplied at a concentration of 10 U/µl together with an optimized 10x reaction buffer. Stringent quality control ensures high protein purity and the absence of detectable exonuclease and endonuclease activities, supporting robust and reproducible performance in sensitive molecular biology applications.
Uracil-DNA Glycosylase is compatible with a wide range of PCR and qPCR protocols and represents an effective solution for contamination prevention in workflows using dUTP-containing nucleotides.
