Description

Proteinase K is a broad-spectrum serine protease with very high specific activity. It is commonly used for protein digestion in biological samples, nucleic acid purification, and the inactivation of enzymatic activities. The enzyme remains active in the presence of SDS, EDTA, and chaotropic salts and performs efficiently over a wide pH range and at temperatures up to 70 °C.

Proteinase K is free of RNase, DNase, and nickase activities and shows a specific activity of > 30 U/mg. The recommended working concentration for most applications is 50–100 µg/ml.

The lyophilized powder is highly soluble and can be prepared as a stock solution according to individual requirements. For users preferring a ready-to-use format, BIORON also offers Proteinase K Solution (20 mg/ml).

Suitable for nucleic acid extraction, genomic DNA preparation, RNA workflows, and general protein digestion applications.
