Description

Proteinase K Solution is a broad-spectrum serine protease with very high specific activity. It is commonly used for protein digestion in biological samples, nucleic acid purification, and the inactivation of enzymatic activities. The enzyme remains active in the presence of SDS, EDTA, and chaotropic salts and performs efficiently over a wide range of conditions.

Proteinase K is free of RNase and DNase activities and shows a specific activity of > 30 U/mg. The recommended working concentration for most applications is 50–100 µg/ml.

The enzyme is supplied as a ready-to-use solution at a concentration of 20 mg/ml in storage buffer (50 mM Tris-HCl, 1 mM CaCl₂, 50% glycerol), enabling convenient handling and direct use in nucleic acid purification workflows.

Suitable for genomic DNA isolation, RNA preparation, cell and tissue lysis, and general protein digestion applications. For users requiring maximum flexibility, Proteinase K is also available as a lyophilized powder.
