EcoR I is a restriction enzyme purified from Escherichia coli RY 13 with a concentration of 10 U/µl. Restriction endonucleases are used in biotechnology for gene cloning, to cut DNA in smaller strands to study similarities and differences in fragment length among individuals like in RFLP (Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism). BIORONs restriction enzymes show high purity and activity.
EcoR I can be heat-inactivated with 20 min at 65 °C and shows 100% activity in BIORON buffer K (supplied with the enzyme). Please note that activity may be impaired by overlapping CpG methylation.
