This kit is suitable for purifying up to 12 µg of genomic DNA from 250 ml of anti-coagulated whole blood. Blood genomic DNA is isolated directly from the white blood cell (WBC) component of whole blood, without the need to remove the red blood cells (RBCs) in advance. The isolation of genomic DNA from blood by this method is based on the efficient release of genomic DNA from by a special cell lysis and heme/protein precipitation buffer, coupled with the selective adsorption of the genomic DNA to a special AxyPrep column. The purified DNA is predominantly greater than or equal to 30 Kb in length, and is suitable for a variety of applications demanding highly purified, high molecular weight genomic DNA, such as PCR, Southern Blot Analysis, RAPD, AFLP and RFLP, etc.

The Blood Genomic DNA Midi/Maxi-prep kits are designed to produce up to 100 µg and 500 µg of high molecular weight genomic DNA respectively from anticoagulated human or animal blood. Purification is based upon a unique phase-partitioning technology in combination with the selective binding of the genomic DNA to a special AxyPrep column. The purified genomic DNA is greater than or equal to 30 Kb in size, and is particularly well suited for PCR, Southern blotting and other applications requiring highly purifid, high molecular weight genomic DNA.
